University of Padua promotes circular economy: a portal for reuse has been launched

In December 2024, with the aim of promoting good practices in the management of resources and consumables within the University, the Goods and Services Management Office and the IT and Telematics Services Area launched the reuse portal (available via personal Sigle Sign On). This platform makes it possible to valoriseinstitutionalassets that are no longer needed but are still usable, through their relocation to other structures of the University.
The idea behind the project is in fact to prolong the use of assets, such as IT equipment that, due to technological obsolescence, are no longer suitable for the University’s institutional purposes but can still be relocated to other contexts, thus reducing purchases that are not strictly necessary.
Through the platform, which is open to the teaching, research, technical and administrative staff of the University of Padua, it is possible to make available to other structures of the University goods that are no longer used but are still functional, by entering the relevant technical details in a form published in a dedicated ‘showcase’. By accessing the reuse portal, authorised users can then view the cards relating to the available assets and, in case of interest, send a requestto the proposing structure.
In this way, assets that would be immediately disposed of can be reallocated to new facilities, reducing waste. In fact, the reuse portal contributes to the achievement of the sustainable development goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda and to spreading the culture of reuse and sustainable management of resources as outlined, inter alia, in the 2023-2027 Sustainability Commitments Charter.
