A new stumbling stone enriches the path of remembrance in front of Palazzo del Bo, the historic seat of the University of Padua. It is dedicated to Leopold Götz, who graduated with honours in Pure Chemistry in 1941, was a victim of racial persecution and died in Auschwitz after being deported in 1944.
On Friday 16 January, the Padua Charter 2026 was presented at Palazzo del Bo. It is the first Italian healthcare tool to recognise violence as a clinical and public health phenomenon. The result of collaboration between the University of Padua and the University Hospital, the Charter proposes a paradigm shift in healthcare response, focusing on training, integrated care and prevention of visible and invisible injuries.
A series of in-person meetings is about to begin, exploring the relationship between visual arts, cinema, literature and psychoanalytic practice. The focus will be on hatred, horror and obscenity as forms of contemporary violence. Psychoanalysts, scholars and lecturers from the University of Padua will reflect on the limits of what can be represented and on the unease of our times. Participation is free upon reservation.
