Research for Goal 16
The University of Padua recognizes and supports research activity on the different themes of sustainability, in line with Goal 16 for sustainable development of 2030 UN Agenda, guaranteeing its freedom and full development while maintaining a multidisciplinary approach.
For this purpose, the University promotes collaboration among its internal structures and with other bodies and institutions, both in the national and international context, through the establishment and animation of research centers, interdepartmental centers, laboratories, observatories and scientific poles.

“Antonio Papisca” Human Rights Center
The vocations of the Human Rights Center are to raise the inter-disciplinary knowledge on human rights , pervasively share the theoretical and applicative contents of this knowledge and educate in order to make the knowledge operate productively in the social and political environment.
In addition, the Centre hosts the UNESCO Chair “Human rights, democracy and peace” of the University of Padova, the European Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence “Intercultural dialogue, human rights and multi-level governance” and also manages the Regional Archive “Pace Diritti Umani – Peace Human Rights” established by the Region of Veneto in 1988.
Observatory on Work and Global Social Justice – LGSG
The Observatory brings together scholars from different fields of studies interested in the international dimension of social and labour phenomena, so as to foster interdisciplinary dialogue on the related issues, through the organisation of scientific and informative activities, aimed at analyzing particularly significant episodes, identifying major current developments, to measuring the impact of particular policies in countries, areas or regions, and building a framework for a unified reading of the many facets of the international dimension of social and labor policies.
