Unipd and AsVeSS converge their joint commitment to sustainability with a
memorandum of understanding

Last week, the University of Padua ratified the approval of a memorandum of understanding with AsVeSS – Veneto Association for Sustainable Development to jointly pursue common sustainability goals. The memorandum was formally approved by the Rector and signed by both parties on 24 May 2023.
AsVeSS, a member association and territorial node of ASviS – Italian Association for Sustainable Development, promotes goals and working methods in favour of the programmes and Sustainable Development Goals for implementation of the 2030 Agenda at a regional level, cooperating with local institutions and involving leading regional institutional, economic, social and cultural actors.
The University had already identified the institutional commitment to support the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda as a priority during the previous rectoral sexennium, implemented above all by promoting and supporting project UniPadova Sostenibile.
AsVeSS and Unipd have long been engaged in a fruitful dialogue leading to the organisation, in the context of the Sustainable Development Festival, of an event on the water crisis, held on 29 May in the Aula Magna of Palazzo del Bo.
By signing this memorandum, the University of Padua and AsVeSS undertake to:
- facilitate the exchange of information, knowledge and good practices related to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda at regional and local level;
- promote information dissemination activities for teachers and studentson the knowledge of Sustainable Development Goals, also by defining specific traineeships and dedicated internships to be carried out at AsVeSS and, possibly, through AsVeSS, at ASviS;
- develop cultural and awareness-raising initiatives on issues related to sustainable development by organising one or more joint events during the Sustainable Development Festival annually promoted by ASVIS;
- cooperate in conceiving and implementing training courses/modules on the issues of Agenda 2030 and other reference frameworks defined at international, national, regional and local level for public, private and non-profit actors;
- cooperate in drawing up a periodical report that documents, starting from local specificities, criticalities and opportunities in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda in the Veneto Region, also involving other parties in the area.
