The Gender Equality Plan 2025-2027 is now approved

On Tuesday 25 March 2025, the University of Padua approved the 2025-2027 Gender Equality Plan (GEP), which succeeds the previous edition of the Plan, covering the three-year period 2022-2024.
The Gender Equality Plan is a strategic document that defines the University’s strategy to promote gender equality and equal opportunities within the University. It has a three-year horizon and is broken down into objectives and actions based on the five priority areas of intervention defined by the European Commission, i.e:
- work/life balance and organisation culture,
- gender balance in top positions and decision-making bodies,
- gender equality in recruitment and career advancement,
- gender mainstreaming in research and teaching programmes,
- combating gender-based violence, including sexual harassment.
The new edition of the GEP follows in the footsteps of a path already initiated by the University through the adoption of planning and reporting tools, such as the three editions of the Gender Budget, and is developed in synergy with the main strategic documents of the University, with the Positive Action Plan and the 2024-2026 Action Plan for the implementation of the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R Action Plan).
The GEP 2025-2027 divides the various proposed actions into three categories: the ‘Actions in continuity with University policies‘, which were included in the previous plan and are now fully integrated into the University’s commitments, to which are added the ‘New actions‘ and, finally, the ‘Implementation suggestions‘, which are possible proposals to be realized in the future.
The document also reports on the objectives and actions outlined in the GEP 2022-2024, describes the University’s commitment to gender equality and equal opportunities, and provides an overview of the gender situation in the academic context, monitoring its evolution over the four-year period 2020-2023.
The document was drafted by a Working Group set up ad hoc according to the indications of the European Commission and the vademecum drawn up by the CRUI GEP Working Group, and its adoption is a prerequisite for access to funding under the Horizon Europe 2021-2027 and PNRR programmes.
