Padua, city of art and science… all to be discovered aboard the tram!

From north to south, through the centre of Padua, the tram tracks trace a line that joins some of the city’s main cultural sites: the Scrovegni Chapel, theMuseum of Nature and Man, thePalazzo della Ragione and Palazzo del Bo, theBasilica of St. Anthonyand theBotanical Gardenof the University of Padua.
With the newprojectPadua, city of art and science, born from the collaboration between theUniversity and the Municipality of Padua, the points identified by the metrobus stops are the stages of aroutethat leads citizens and visitors to discover the artistic heritage and the wonders of science of our city.
Specifically, the bus shelters at Line 1 metrobus stops, corresponding to the stops leading to the city’s world heritage sites – Eremitani, Ponti Romani, Tito Livio and Santo – have been customised; while the head and tail spaces of each bus shelter promote our places of art and science, also indicatingthe direction and travel timeto reach them.
Even the interiors of thecarswill soon be ‘dressed’ to communicate even more strongly this extraordinary cultural wealth of the city, which includestwo Unesco sites, namely the Botanical Garden and the fresco cycles from the 14th century, uniquein Italy.
‘This north-south tram route connects important artistic and scientific sites that form the foundation on which the history of our university rests. For this reason, the project is doubly important: on the one hand there is the need to enhance the cultural heritage of our city and its university, and on the other hand there is an incentive for a route that promotes sustainable mobility, such as the use of the tram. – says Mauro Varotto, delegate for Museums and Collections at the University of Padua.
This cultural promotion campaign, which marries thesustainable mobility policiesof the municipality and the university, was realised thanks tofundsfrom the Ministry of Tourism and Pnrr – Ministry of Culture.
