The “M’illumino di meno 2024″ campaign: No Borders

The University of Padua, as part of UniPadova Sostenibile project, is again this year joining the “M’illumino di Meno” campaign, promoted by Caterpillar and Rai Radio 2, scheduled for Feb. 16, 2024, the date chosen in 2023 to celebrate the National Energy Saving Day.
This year’s invitation looks far and wide and shuts down borders, thus inviting all and sundry to seek international alliances in their membership, through twinning for municipalities, international projects for schools, universities and research, overseas locations for companies. Moreover, it aims to involve expat relatives and friends and invite foreign people and communities to join “M’illumino di meno.”
Also this year, the University of Padua joins the initiative by organizing, along with hundreds of monuments and buildings throughout Italy, the switching off of the lighting system of Palazzo del Bo, the historical heart of the University, and Palazzo Storione, headquarter of the central administration, aproximately at 6 p.m.
Also joining the initiative are the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, which on the day of Feb. 16 will turn off the lights in the common areas of departmental buildings, extending the invitation to do the same to students, faculty and generally to all people studying or working in the facility, and the Agripolis Pole, which at the suggestion of the DAFNAE Department has chosen to carry out a campus-wide action that includes turning off all lights in the “Pentagon” building and adjacent areas from 8 to 9 p.m., along with a general invitation to keep on, on the day, only those lights that are strictly necessary.
Our University also extended the invitation to join “M’illumino di meno” to some foreign partner universities; specifically the Universities of Cambridge, Paris Sorbonne 1, Oxford, Salamanca and the Arqus Alliance Universities.
As usual, the University invites everyone to share the spirit of the initiative by turning off the lighting wherever possible.
If you would like to take part in the campaign through additional initiatives, please notify us about your plans at sostenibilita@unipd.it , so that we can give you adequate visibility.
The initiative obtained the sponsorship of the RUS (Network of Universities for Sustainable Development).
