INITIATIVES TO SUPPORT FEMALE STUDENTS
The University of Padua offers a range of initiatives and scholarships to support female students’ access to study and career paths in which they are underrepresented with the aim of closing the gender imbalances found in some disciplinary areas and promoting equality at all levels.
NERD Project: Non E’ Roba per Donne?
This IBM project in collaboration with the University of Padova aims to spread awareness for computer science and digital skills among femalestudents attending the last three years at high school.
The project offers free training meetings and online laboratories, thanks to which students can learn how to design and program apps in an easy, fast and fun way, also experiencing what it means to work in information technology under the supervision of business mentors.
Another goal is to encourage female students to pursue university careers in STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), which until now have been considered purely of male interest.
