QS World University Rankings: Unipd ranks first in Italy for sustainability

On Tuesday, 27 June, the QS World University Ranking results were released, one of the most internationally accredited rankings that assesses the best universities in the world.
The University of Padua climbed 24 places this year, achieving 219th place in the world and ranking 4th among Italian universities, thus, once again confirming its position among the 250 Top Universities, a bracket that includes 2% of the world’s best universities.
This edition analysed 2,963 universities (almost 500 more than in the previous edition) from 104 different countries.
“The excellent result in the QS World University Ranking is the outcome of the effort of the entire academic community, and confirms that we made good decisions,” says Rector Daniela Mapelli.
“We are very happy that our efforts in sustainability have been recognised, an indicator that ranks us among the top fifty universities in the world. Sustainability that passes, to give just a few examples, through an upgrading process of buildings and neighbourhoods in Padua and of our external facilities without land consumption, by opening inclusive museum hubs and commitment to circular economy policies. We are also delighted with the excellent result achieved on the scene of international research, which certifies that Padua is perfectly integrated into the network of the best international universities”.
With respect to the new “Sustainability” indicator, the University of Padua ranks 55th on a global scale and 1st in Italy, thus confirming our university’s ongoing commitment to social and environmental sustainability.
