The Festival of Sustainable Development 2023 offers a double event on water and the
water crisis. Monday, 29 May at Palazzo del Bo

The events of the 2023 Festival of Sustainable Development continue in Padua during the last week of the Festival.
The double appointment scheduled for Monday, 29 May in the Aula Magna of Palazzo del Bo is the ideal close for a particularly rich and well-attended edition. An in-depth discussion entitled “Tackling the water crisis: proposals for a pact between territories” will present possible solutions, starting from scientific evidence on the issue. The discussion will be followed by a lecture by Professor Andrea Rinaldo, winner of the Stockholm Water Prize.
The day’s programme kicks off at 9.00 am with a discussion, coordinated by Professor Francesca da Porto, entitled “Responses to Drought: Technical Solutions and Experiments”.
Speakers: Vincenzo D’Agostino (Tesaf Department, University of Padua) with “Experiences for stormwater management within the LIFE BEWARE project”; Andrea Crestani (Anbi Veneto studies office) with “Reservoirs and storage ponds, drinking wells, infiltration forest areas”; Alessandro Manzardo (ICEA Department, University of Padua) with “The water footprint tool for water management in urban and industrial contexts”; Paolo Salandin (ICEA Department, University of Padua) with “Hydraulic works for water resource management”; Giorgio Osti (FISPPA Department, University of Padua) with “For collaborative governance, the participation of citizens and civil society”.
Soon afterwards, from 10.30 am, a round table coordinated by Paolo Gurisatti of the AsVeSS scientific technical committee will focus on the theme “A pact for water as a common asset”, with the participation of representatives of institutions affected by the problem.
Speakers: Andrea Nardin (President of the Province of Vicenza); Andrea Micalizzi (Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Padua); Flavio Frasson (President of the Etra Management Board); Roberto Gasparetto (Managing Director of AcegasApsAmga); Elena Bonafè (Head of the Industrial Policies, Energy and Sustainability Area, Confindustria Veneto East); Vincenzo Artico (Extraordinary Commissioner for Water, Veneto Region).
At 12.15 pm a lecture will be given by Andrea Rinaldo entitled “Reflection in Water” (reservation required), winner of the 2023 Stockholm Water Prize.
Two different bookings are required to attend both events.
