The University of Padua participates in the 2025 edition of MotoStudent with the Quarto di Litro team

From 15 to 19 October 2025, the eighth edition of MotoStudent will take place at the MotorLand Aragón circuit in Alcañiz, Spain. This international competition, held every two years, brings together the best university teams to design and build prototype racing motorcycles.
The 2025 edition will involve over 70 universities from Europe, Asia and Latin America, offering students a concrete opportunity to apply the skills they have acquired in their studies by tackling real engineering challenges.
The University of Padua will be present at the competition with Quarto di Litro, the university’s motorcycle team founded in 2014 and made up of students from the degree courses in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Management and Energy Engineering, which over the years has achieved significant results such as the award for “Best New Team” in 2016, first place in the Best Industrial Project category and second place in the overall ranking in 2018, and finally the Best Rookie award in the Electric category and fourth place overall in the 2021-2023 biennium.
The challenge now consists of designing and building two prototype racing motorcycles, one with an internal combustion engine and one that is fully electric. Both will be evaluated in the two phases of the competition:
MS1: technical-design and industrial assessment, with a focus on innovation, sustainability and project management
MS2: dynamic phase on the track, with acceleration and handling tests and a final race on the circuit
For the purposes of evaluation, the most highly rated projects are those with in-depth analysis, accurate development and concrete improvement of the prototype, which can be integrated during the Final Event and compared in terms of total competition time with and without innovation.
MotoStudent is much more than just a competition: it is an outdoor training laboratory where theory and practice come together. During the week of the competition, team members face technical, organisational and logistical challenges, competing in an international context with students, industry experts and companies from the world of motorcycling.
With the MotoStudent Unipd project, the University of Padua confirms its commitment to promoting applied research, technological innovation and sustainability, without neglecting aspects related to experiential, interdisciplinary and collaborative teaching, capable of enhancing the talent, creativity and technical skills of its students.
