Voluntary student-run schemes
Since 2003, the University has been carrying out educational activities within the Triveneto penitentiary institutes, entitled “University in Prison”. Within this project students have the opportunity to join voluntary activities, thus becoming tutors to support inmates in their study path.
In addition, students can become volunteers with the MentorUP project, supporting girls and boys at risk of marginalisation and school drop-out, or with Civil Service projects.
The following is an in-depth look at volunteering opportunities at the University of Padua:
- Student volunteers working as tutors within the ‘University in Prison’ project to support inmates in their studies
- volunteering experiences open to female and male students of the University in the ‘Mentor UP’ project, supporting girls and boys at risk of marginalisation and school drop-out
- the entire community aged between 18 and 28 can participate in volunteer experiences in ‘Civil Service’ projects.
Furthermore, the University undertakes various public engagement and knowledge dissemination initiatives. Initiatives aimed at schools, local institutions, families and children, in addition to those proposed by the individual departments, include the Science4all festival, dedicated to the dissemination of science, with workshops, lectures and activities for children and adults; workshops and festivals such as ‘Risvegli 2024’ at the University’s Botanical Garden, which aim to raise awareness of the plant kingdom and biodiversity; and the educational activities offered by each of the University’s 11 museums. In addition, student associations organise events and initiatives throughout the territory.
