THE University Impact Rankings: Unipd ranks 15th in “Sustainability of cities and communities” for enhancing the value of building, historical and artistic heritage, and sustainable mobility

The results of the sixth edition of the University Impact Rankings, compiled by the international review Times Higher Education (THE), have been published.
This ranking aims to take a snapshot of the ability of universities to contribute to achieving the targets defined by the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of theUN 2030 Agenda, as well as to their primary mission of teaching, research and Third Mission.
THE University Impact Rankings is a set of recent rankings (one for each SDG and one overall) that is gaining ground internationally, as can be seen from the number of participating universities. Indeed, 2,152 universities were analysed this year, marking a risefrom the 1,705 universities that participated in the 2023 edition.
The results achieved in this edition of THE University Impact Rankings show that the University of Padua, even in the face of the growing number of participating universities, has consolidated its position in the 101-200 bracket of the overall ranking, recording significant results in particular with reference toSDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities,for which it has gained 39 positions, rising from 54th in 2023 to 15th worldwide in 2024. The University’s commitment to the enhancement of its historical and artistic heritage, as well as to the sustainable management of buildings and the promotion of sustainable mobility, has been reflected in this area.
ForSDG 17 – Partnership for the Goals,the University of Padua achieved a remarkable result, gaining more than 100 positions, ranking among the top 200 universities in the world, for reporting to its stakeholders on the actions implemented – emphasised through institutional communication channels and the Sustainability Report, published annually – and its commitment to building national and international networking for sustainability.
The university also reconfirmed its 35th place forSDG 4 – Quality Education, ranking 41st for SDG 3 – Health and Well-being, placed among the top 200 universities worldwide for SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 9 – Business, Innovation and Infrastructure, for which it still recorded a score increase.
