International Women’s Day: the University of Padua as a guardian for women’s rights with “8 marzo diffuso”

On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2026, the University of Padua renews its commitment with “8 marzo diffuso”, a calendar full of initiatives open to the public dedicated to gender equality, combating discrimination, harassment and violence, and the multidimensional protection of rights.
The programme involves university departments, schools and centres with meetings, round tables, in-depth discussions and guided tours that address the issue of the status of womenfrom different perspectives – legal, scientific, social and cultural – providing space for dialogue between the academic community and the local area.
As Professor Gaya Spolverato, delegate for equal opportunities policies, points out in the video message accompanying the 2026 edition, in these complex times we are living in, “the task of an institution such as ours is to act as a permanent guardian and show the way forward, especially when respect for rights, even those that seemed to have been acquired, seems to be faltering and it becomes necessary to reaffirm certain key principles”. This is the meaning of “8 marzo Diffuso”.
