Employees learn about healthy and sustainable cooking: the first online edition of Educhef for Unipd staff gets underway

After the success of the two editions aimed at off-site freshmen enrolled in the first year of the I and II level degree courses at the University of Padua, the first online edition of Educhefdedicated to the University staff will start on Tuesday, May 18, 2021.
The initiative, carried out in collaboration with Confcommercio Ascom Padova, Coop Alleanza 3.0 and Fairtrade Italia, responsible for the international Fairtrade certification mark Fairtrade, aims to promote the values of a healthier and more sustainable diet also among the staff.
The course will be divided into a minimum of 12 thematic evenings between May and June 2021, held by chefs who will guide the participants in the execution of tasty and genuine dishes using Coop brand products and the territory. Depending on the theme nights chosen, participants and attendees will have the opportunity to try their hand at preparing appetizers, entrees, main courses and desserts.
Lessons will be held live from Ascom Padua’s kitchen laboratories with chefs in attendance, while groups of 20 people will follow the online lessons, with a total expected involvement of up to 240 people.
The path will be enriched by some training moments dedicated to conscious shopping and sustainable supply chains: during the kick-off meeting (May 11, 2021), in addition to providing participants with some useful information for their participation in the initiative, there will be a training moment by Coop Alleanza 3.0 on conscious and responsible shopping, attentive to the origin of products and ingredients. In addition, during the evenings dedicated to desserts, Fairtrade Italia experts will explore the issue of production and procurement that respect the rights of workers, their communities and the environment.
Due to the persistence of the pandemic situation, the edition will be held in online mode, even if, until the last moment, there was a strong desire on the part of the University to be able to realize the initiative in presence. However, we will try to make the best out of this mode as well.
The Educhef project is part of a broader context of policies that the University of Padua has been pursuing for some time as part of the promotion of well-being among students, students and staff of the University and education and information on sustainability issues, in all its forms.
