Bring your ideas to the GARR 2026 Conference: call for proposals now open

The call for proposals is now open for speakers to apply to present at the GARR 2026 Conference, entitled “The Shape of Change: Between Digital Ethics and Shared Roots”, scheduled to take place from 19 to 21 May 2026 at the University of Pisa. This annual event brings together the digital innovation community around the GARR national network, which provides high-performance connectivity and innovative services for teachers, researchers and students.
The 2026 edition invites us to reflect on the profound change that is transforming digital technologies and knowledge infrastructures, focusing on the relationship between sovereignty and digital autonomy, ethics and artificial intelligence law, resilience and sustainability of systems, historical memory and new scientific frontiers. In particular, there are many topics that can be explored in depth:
- Digital sovereignty, infrastructure geopolitics and alternatives to closed systems
- Ethics of artificial intelligence, autonomous systems and regulation
- Digital resilience, sustainability and fragility of systems
- Digital infrastructure, cloud and service federation
- Authentication and authorisation infrastructure
- Quantum computing and Quantum Internet
- Digital cultural heritage
- Open source and Software Heritage
- Research data governance
All those who contribute daily to building, using and improving digital knowledge infrastructures are invited to participate with the aim of fostering open and multidisciplinary dialogue. Sharing a project and recounting an experience means actively participating in defining the forms of change from a sustainable perspective.
