Final call for the Urban Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition 2023

You still have time until 16 June to submit your project to the Urban Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition 2023.
The competition – this edition is the fourth in the series – is promoted by the Guangzhou International Sister Cities University Alliance (GISU), established in 2018 by the twinning of several international universities, whose founding members include Unipd, to promote virtuous discussions and cooperation among their students. The alliance currently consists of 20 affiliated universities, supported by the People’s Government of the Guangzhou Municipality.
GISU’s mission is to enhance the academic resources of its partner universities in close connection with the sustainable development of the cities in which they are located, aspiring to generate change in the societies involved through scientific and technological innovation.
The competition’s current edition is hosted by the University of Padua with the theme Promoting Sustainable Urban Development with Scientific and Technological Innovation, with the aim of rewarding entrepreneurial projects in the scientific field that make an innovative contribution to sustainable urban planning and development.
Students over 18 years of age or graduates within five years of graduation (graduates after 2018) may submit their projects for the competition.
Participating teams can compete in the following two categories:
● CONCEPT TEAM: teams that have a business idea or project that is currently not funded and, therefore, has not yet commenced;
● START-UP TEAMS: teams that have established a start-up no earlier than 2021, and which meet the following share capital constraints:
1) the legal representative of the company must own at least 10% of it;
2) the team of eligible participants (full-time students over the age of 18 or graduates within 5 years of graduation) must own at least 1/3 of it.
Applicants are also requested to send a demo video and a presentation of the project, together with a business plan and a short project summary (maximum 300 words approved as a message to promote the initiative on the University website).
Full details on how to participate can be found on the initiative’s page.
