Heat pumps and sustainable air conditioning: experts gather in Padua for an event open to the public

On Tuesday, 24 February 2026, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., the Archivio Antico of Palazzo Bo will host the meeting ‘Heat pumps and the future of sustainable air conditioning’, promoted by the Giorgio Levi Cases Centre for Energy Economics and Technology Studies at the University of Padua. Part of the University’s broader commitment to promoting technological solutions and energy policies geared towards environmental sustainability and climate neutrality, the event will be dedicated to the role of heat pumps in the energy transition and decarbonisation of the building sector.
The meeting will be opened by Professor Michele De Carli of the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Padua with a reflection on ‘The role of heat pumps in the energy transition’, exploring what heat pumps are and how they work. Martina Battocchio, EU Project Officer of the European Heat Pump Association, will follow with a presentation entitled ‘Heat pumps for a carbon-neutral Europe: from EU directives to compliance solution’, which will offer an overview of the adoption of heat pumps in Europe, highlighting positive trends and critical issues. Alberto Salmistraro, CEO of Eneren, will conclude the event by discussing ‘Heat pumps: technological innovations and actual potential’ through an illustration of the latest technological innovations and the concrete application potential of heat pumps in the private sector.
Participation is free of charge, subject to registration via the link or QR code indicated on the event poster.
The Padua Engineers Foundation will award 2 CFP credits to engineers who participate in the seminar.
