Outreach educational activities
Public Engagement ActivitiesAttività di Public Engagement
The University undertakes various initiatives to promote public engagement and the dissemination of knowledge.
Among the activities aimed at schools, local institutions, families, and children—alongside those organised by individual departments (such as the magic show Magichimici, created by lecturers and students of the Department of Chemical Sciences)—is the Science4All Festival, dedicated to science communication, with workshops, conferences, and activities for both children and adults.
The University also promotes several festivals in collaboration with other institutions, organizations, and local and national associations, such as the Oltre Festival: Orient, Liberate, Transform, and Renew through Education. .
The museums and cultural sites of the University of Padua carry out an intense program of activities to promote their collections and research to the wider community. Among the various initiatives offered are:
- Workshops and festivals, such as Risvegli at the University’s Botanical Garden, which aim to raise awareness about the plant kingdom and biodiversity;
- Educational activities offered by each of the University’s 11 museums, as well as themed guided tours of Palazzo del Bo and Palazzo Liviano, the University’s historic buildings;
- The “Musei in Valigia” (Museums in a Suitcase) project, an inclusive accessibility program designed to bring museums to individuals facing physical or social disabilities that make it difficult or impossible to visit the museum sites.
Student-Run Voluntary Programs
Since 2003, the University has organized educational activities within correctional institutions in the Triveneto region as part of the “University in Prison” project. Within this initiative, students can participate as volunteers, acting as tutors to support inmates in their studies.
In addition, students can volunteer through the MentorUP project, supporting young people at risk of social exclusion or school dropout, or take part in National Civil Service projects.
Below is an overview of the main volunteering opportunities at the University of Padua:
- Student volunteers who work as tutors within the University in Prison project, helping inmates with their studies;
- Volunteering experiences open to all University students through the MentorUP project, supporting young people at risk of marginalization and school abandonment;
- The wider community, aged between 18 and 28, can also participate in volunteering experiences through Civil Service projects.
Moreover, student associations founded within the academic community promote numerous initiatives connected to their specific goals.
