Smact Competence Centre selects Three Unipd projects
Three projects of the University of Padua have been selected as part of the ‘Call 4 Ideas 2022’ launched by Smact Competence Centre to collect and award the best project proposals for applied research innovation presented by universities and research centres in Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Trentino Alto Adige.
The winner for the “Configurable Resilient Supply Chains” section was the project “Development of a system based on artificial intelligence for injection moulding of recycled post-consumer plastics‘ presented by the Department of Industrial Engineering of the University of Padua with the team including Giovanni Lucchetta, Marco Sorgato, Leonardo Piccolo and Enrico Bovo. Their project makes the use of recycled plastic for moulding new products more efficient, reducing waste and energy consumption.
The section dedicated to the theme ‘Zero-waste and green transition’ awarded the project ‘Robotized waste sorting system‘ proposed by the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Padua with the team comprising Emanuele Menegatti and Alberto Bacchin.
The winner for the ‘Farm-to-Fork Resilience’ section was the project ‘Authenticated Chain with a Technological, Ecological and Rapid System (FASTER)‘ presented by the Department of Comparative Biomedicine and Nutrition of the University of Padua with the team made up by Stefania Balzan, Luca Fasolato, Sarah Currò and Pierantonio Facco. This proposal uses NIR spectroscopy to assess the state of preservation of food products in real time.
