M‘Illumino di Meno 2025 goes fast and it’s fashionable!

The University of Padua, as part of the UniPadova Sostenibile actions, is again this year joining the ‘M’illumino di Meno’ (I use less light) campaign, promoted by Caterpillar and Rai Radio 2, which for its 21st edition will take place over an entire week, starting on Sunday 16 February 2025, National Energy Saving and Sustainable Lifestyles Day, until Friday 21 February.
Together with hundreds of monuments and buildings throughout Italy, the lighting of the Palazzo del Bo, the historic heart of the University, will also switch off on 16 February at around 6 p.m. The initiatives will then continue throughout the following week.
The focus of this new edition is on the enormous environmental impact of fast fashion. For this reason, as a concrete awareness-raising gesture, the University is organising a swap party, an informal moment in which the entire University community can exchange their second-hand clothes and accessories to give them a new life, with a view to reuse and the circular economy.
The event will take place in the Student Hall of the Bo Palace on Thursday 20 February 2025 from 15.30 to 18.30.
Those wishing to participate by bringing their own swap items are invited to fill in the online application form, indicating the quantity (max 4 items) and type of items they intend to bring, and should arrive on the day of the event at 2.30 p.m. to facilitate inventory and room set-up activities before the start of the event.
At the end of the event, the remaining and unclaimed items will be donated to charity.
Taking part in the initiative will also offer a voucher from UNIPD Store, the University of Padua’s merchandising shop.
Finally, we invite the entire academic community to communicate further initiatives on the topic at sostenibilita@unipd.it and to tag the Instagram page @unipadovasustainable in social content in order to give visibility to the university community’s contribution to this anniversary.
