Inauguration of the new Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on Just Fossil Fuel Transition

The University of Padua inaugurates its newJean Monnet Centre of Excellence on Just Fossil Fuel Transition (JFFT) with a double event open to all.
The new Centre, coordinated by Professor Massimo De Marchi, was created as an evolution of the Climate Justice Centre of Excellence and recognises among its primary objectives to consolidate knowledge on the just transition away from fossil fuels, supporting EU decision-making and strengthening the EU’s role in Europe and the world
On the occasion of GeoNight – International Geography Night, an inaugural conference is scheduled for 4 April 2025.
The event will be opened at 5 p.m. by a seminar of critical reflection on moving away from the use of fossil raw materials along a fair and equitable path; speakers include Jason W. Moore(Author of the book‘Capitalism in the Web of Life: Ecology and the Accumulation of Capital’); Tzeporah Berman(Chairwoman of the Steering Committee and Founder of the Initiative for a Global Non-Proliferation Treaty on Fossil Fuels) andBenjamin Sovacool(Author of the scientific work‘When Decarbonisation Reinforces Colonisation’) (Sign up here).
Appointment instead at 9 p.m. with the World Café, a session dedicated to a confrontation between the world of research, society and movements on the main issues of climate change with a vision of co-construction and cooperation of a fairer, more just, peaceful and common future (Sign up here).
