25 years of Padua Marathon: 550 Unipd community members will run on April 27 for this special anniversary

Once again this year, the University of Padua enthusiastically confirms its participation in the Padova Marathon,which will celebrate its 25th anniversaryon Sunday, April 27.
On this special occasion, the Athenaeum renews its cooperation in organizing one of the most popular sports events in the area, confirming its role in promoting sports, health and an active lifestyle.
Numerous again for this special edition were the requests for participation that arrived from the entire university community that will take part in the various running events scheduled: in fact, the 550 available places were sold out in just a few hours after registration opened, confirming the growing interest from faculty and technical-administrative staff, students and undergraduates. A steadily growing trend that has seen an increase in requests to participate, with an increase in registrations compared to 2024 of 128 percent for the competitive races and 50 percent for the Stracittadine.
Entrants running for the University of Padua at this 25th edition will be divided as follows:
- 20 participantsin the marathon (42.145 km)
- 30 participantsin the Half Marathon (21.097 km)
- 450 participants in the non-competitiveStracittadine race(10, 5 and 1 km),
- 50 participantsin the Crono10, the new non-competitive but time-tracking 10 km race.
The event will be attended by the Rector of the University of Padua, Prof. Daniela Mapelli, and the Pro-Rector for Wellness and Sports, Prof. Antonio Paoli, who says, ”Running and sporting activity are fundamental to people’s mental and physical well-being. Events such as the Padua Marathon provide a valuable opportunity to promote a healthy lifestyle and strengthen the sense of community ‘.
The University’s commitment to the promotion and enhancement of sports and wellness continues to be constant and relevant, as evidenced not only by the significant participation in the Padua Marathon, but also by the numerous initiatives offered throughout the year to the academic community and citizens.
The appointment with all Unipd runners is set for 09:00 a.m. in front of the steps of St. Justine Abbey for a group photo together with the Magnificent Rector.
